Description Mesar Hameed 2008-02-29 10:00:20 UTC
Please describe the problem:
As from mailing list, Thanks Mohaned!

I can reproduce this too (trunk orca)

visit www.fixedearth.com
navigate down page, there is missing text between:

"The Fair Education Foundation, Inc."

and
"- since 1973 -"

as it stands, we dont know that there is something missing.

if we use up arrow, we seem to recover one of the lines of the missing paragraph, namely:
"and Proving the Truthfulness of the Bible from Creation to Heaven..."

we still dont seem to get hold of the first bit of that sentance:
"Exposing the False Science Idol of Evolutionism,"
.

the whole page should read as follows (missing marked with * at the start:

"The non-moving Earth"
"& anti-evolution web page of"
"The Fair Education Foundation, Inc."
*"Exposing the False Science Idol of Evolutionism,"
*"and Proving the Truthfulness of the Bible from Creation to Heaven..."
"- since 1973 -"

I havent had a chanse to check the markup, nor if simular things happen further down the page.

another website where this occurs, as pointed out by Hermann on the mailing list:

am Fr 29. Feb 2008 um 11:05:15 schrieb Jon <j.orcauser@googlemail.com>:

> for it here:

I think that's known, and I can reproduce it on other sites:
http://www.fr-online.de/
Open any department, lets say politics (Politik). Select an article from
the links list, they start after "Impressum". Open any article, go to
"Impressum" again, and try to read it from the beginning by reading
line-by-line. The cursor jumps in the middle of the article.
When using the search function by typing a word from the headline, I can
start reading from the beginning.
I'm sorry, but one should at least have basic knowledge in reading
German, but this belongs to my main sites, used every day.

Comment 2 Mesar Hameed 2008-02-29 16:08:37 UTC
Is this related to up/down nav issues described by bug 414762?
Comment 3 Hermann 2008-03-03 09:40:14 UTC
There's a similar behavior on my daily newspaper site:
http://www.fr-online.de/
Open this site with FF3, search for the word "impressum". After this link
there is an overview of the most uptodate stories. Open one by clicking
on its link.
When the page has loaded, search again for "impressum", and then scroll
down one line to begin reading the story.
The cursor jumps in the middle of the story, and you have to move it
back line by line to find the beginning.
The same if you read articles in different departments like politics
(Politik), business (Wirtschaft) etc.
If you search for a word from the story's headline by using Orca's find
dialog, everyting's all right.
In general: This jumping over several lines often occurs and, I think,
was often reported.
Comment 4 Hermann 2008-03-03 10:33:09 UTC
Sorry, but now it seems to work. I retested it after writing my last
comment.
But the last sentence seems true anyway: Such jumping of the cursor was
often reported.
