Description Pacho Ramos 2008-02-28 17:30:17 UTC
Many other apps (epiphany, gnome-terminal, seamonkey, firefox...) allow to use middle click for pasting a selected file, but gedit doesn't allow that and forces user to always click on "copy" and click on "paste"

I think that gedit should paste the selected text when pressing middle mouse click like other apps do

Thanks a lot

It does.
Comment 2 Pacho Ramos 2008-02-28 17:47:42 UTC
It doesn't work for me :-/
Comment 3 Pacho Ramos 2008-09-18 10:49:26 UTC
Steve, seems that it only fails when, between selecting text to copy and pasting with middle click I left click for selecting where I want to paste the text:
1. Select text to copy
2. Left click where you want to paste
-> Nothing will be pasted

If you select the text and DIRECTLY paste with middle click it works, but I am unable to decide where to paste the text

Thanks

This is the usual behaviour, it is actually a bug in GTK+.
Comment 5 Pacho Ramos 2008-09-18 12:24:03 UTC
You are true, this would explain why I have the same problem when copying to location bar in epiphany but not when doing it on gnome-terminal or in this box where I am writting now

Thanks :-)

Can someone confirm this bug?

I might want to try to fix this if I can for this bug is really a problem for me. i'm used to the selection clipboard a lot and this is one of the only reasons I keep using KWrite and don't switch to gedit.

I suppose this is a duplicate of bug 333514

More precisely, a duplicate of bug 584236

Bug #584236 is more recent, but has more activity.
