GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 517804
crash in Epiphany Web Browser: Such a crash just happen...
Last modified: 2008-02-22 11:33:39 UTC
Version: 2.21.90 What were you doing when the application crashed? Such a crash just happens every single time I resume from hibernation and epiphany was running before hibernating (obviously). This wouldn't happen with the epiphany 2.20 series, and the gecko used is exactly the same version for both. Distribution: Debian lenny/sid Gnome Release: 2.20.3 2008-01-12 (Debian) BugBuddy Version: 2.20.1 System: Linux 2.6.24-1-amd64 #1 SMP Mon Feb 11 13:47:43 UTC 2008 x86_64 X Vendor: The X.Org Foundation X Vendor Release: 10400090 Selinux: No Accessibility: Disabled GTK+ Theme: Clearlooks Icon Theme: gnome Memory status: size: 758763520 vsize: 758763520 resident: 24272896 share: 2400256 rss: 24272896 rss_rlim: 18446744073709551615 CPU usage: start_time: 1203531496 rtime: 34028 utime: 31935 stime: 2093 cutime:1895 cstime: 340 timeout: 0 it_real_value: 0 frequency: 100 Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/epiphany-browser' Using host libthread_db library "/lib/libthread_db.so.1". Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. The stack trace contains epiphany debug symbols, but misses debug symbols for glib, gtk+ and firefox, so it will be hard for the developers to fix that crash. Could you please help fixing this by installing some debugging packages [1], start the application as normal, and try to reproduce the crash, if possible? Once bug-buddy pops up, you can find the stacktrace in the 'Details', now containing way more information. Please copy that stacktrace and paste it as a comment here. Thanks in advance! [1] Please install debug packages for epiphany, gtk, glib, libgnome, libgnomeui, and the mozilla backend (for example mozilla, firefox, or xulrunner) (as far as those packages are provided by your distribution). More details can be found here: http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces
Please also install dbus and avahi debug symbols. Thanks!
Here you are. Disclaimer: for some reason, I can't get the glib symbols to be loaded by gdb ; and debian's dbus doesn't provide debugging symbols. Anyways, it looks like the problem lies within the avahi-feeded bookmarks (I have an apache with mod_dnssd around). FWIW, the bug is reproducible without hibernating. Event such as reboot of the host hosting the apache, or ifdown/ifup out there, or ifdown/ifup on the host with ephy on is enough to trigger a crash.
