Description Michael Cordingley 2008-02-20 17:43:26 UTC
Please describe the problem:
It is impossible to select multiple ranges of changing cells within Solver. Some problems require either discontiguous sets of changing cells or non-rectangular sets of data cells and cannot be solved within Gnumeric.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Solver
2. Select a range of changing cells
3. Add a comma and select another range

Actual results:
An error message appears.

Expected results:
For multiple cell ranges to be accepted in a comma-separated list.

Does this happen every time?
Yes

First of all there are no problems that require either "contiguous sets of changing cells or non-rectangular sets of data cells". In a spreadsheet you are vrey much in control where you place the cells.

Of course it would be nice if the solver would allow discontiguous selections.
