GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 516756
GUIfication of locales
Last modified: 2008-02-15 22:15:32 UTC
Please describe the problem: See http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.redhat.fedora.devel/76670 Apparently many people didn't even know about beautiful mechanism of locales, which is available in Linux. Theory is that if there is nice GUI configuration mechanism for that, locales might be more used. KDE has pretty good tool for this, but certainly some GNOME "don't stand in the way of users doing what they want by forcing them operate your program" could be useful. I know that there is an option to change language of Gnome session as whole (which sets LANG variable), but AFAIK it is not possible to change individual LC_* variables. Steps to reproduce: Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information:

Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. Current releases in the 2.21 unstable series have the beginnings of a localization capplet, but it won't get done in time for 2.22. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 333104 ***
