Description Christopher Barth 2008-02-07 03:38:38 UTC
Please describe the problem:
A dependancy of the fiance::quote online stock information engine is not compiled into the windows version.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Add any stock or bond asset register.
2. Try to save account after adding ticker symbol.
3.

Actual results:
Failure message.

Expected results:
Retrieve close to real time information about stock/bond.

Does this happen every time?
Yes.

Other information:
Possibly related to the Crypt::SSLeay perl module undocumented dependancy.
Comment 1 Andreas Köhler 2008-02-07 11:58:14 UTC
Have you tried to install Finance-Quote by clicking on the start menu item labeled "Install Online Price Retrieval"?

Why do you know about Crypt::SSLeay but not Finance-Quote? That really confuses me.

Ok, please forget about my second paragraph... [bug description, first sentence].
:-)
Comment 3 Christopher Barth 2008-02-07 15:23:38 UTC
Thanks for responding you've pointed me in the right direction.
I've found 'install-fq-mods.bat' in the bin directory. This bat asks for ActivePerl, so I've downloaded the ActivePerl-5.10.0.1002-MSWin32-x86-283697.msi from downloads.activestate.com.
Okay.
How do I add the bin directory to my perl to my path environment?
Comment 4 Andreas Köhler 2008-02-07 16:01:09 UTC
Please use ActivePerl 5.6 or 5.8 as 5.10 is neither supported right now, nor do we warn about that fact in GnuCash 2.2.3.

The problem is that I have not found a Finance-Quote ppm for AP 5.10 yet.
