GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 513910
broken DVD DL support
Last modified: 2008-06-10 09:43:10 UTC
Please describe the problem: Can't burn DVD DL disk in brasero 0.7.1 Steps to reproduce: 1.Insert dvd dl disk in to dvd rom 2.Select create new disk (default app brasero) 3.Create new project 4.Press burn button to burn. 5.Brasero say "the medium is not writable with the current set of plugins" Actual results: My boss say that i'm looser :( Expected results: Gnome the best DE! Brasero true burn application. Open source it is true way. Does this happen every time? Unfortunately yes. Other information: brasero configuration summary: ---------------------------------- Version: 0.7.1 Update caches: yes Build inotify: yes Build search pane : no Build playlist pane : yes Build Preview pane : yes Build libnotify support : yes Build dbus support : yes Build cdrtools plugins : yes Build cdrkit plugins : yes Build libburnia plugins : yes Debug log ftp://80.86.249.14/forum/brasero/brasero_debug.txt
I can confirm that too. On Fedora 8 I do have similar problem - I can burn DL DVDs using nautilus, but I cannot do that using Brasero, Brasero claims “the medium is not writable with the current set of plugins”.
I can confirm this for Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy. I can load files to burn a DL disc, but it cannot be burned because “the medium is not writable with the current set of plugins”.
Yes, late changes broke that support (if it ever was supported). I'll fix this for next release.

I can confirm this for Ubuntu Hardy Heron (8.04). DL support is totally hosed! Any idea when an update will be out??
Confirmed on Mandriva 2008.1 and Cooker as well....
Done in trunk (That'll be for 0.8.x). I managed to burn an image to a DVD+R DL. Now I'd like people to test the DVD+RW DL and DVD-R DL since my drive doesn't support that types of media. Any problem should be reported in this thread please. Thanks in advance.
I downloaded the brasero from SVN, how do I install it??? non of the scripts work???
(In reply to comment #7) > Done in trunk (That'll be for 0.8.x). I managed to burn an image to a DVD+R DL. Me too, working fine. > Now I'd like people to test the DVD+RW DL and DVD-R DL since my drive doesn't > support that types of media. Do these exist ? I thought the only DLs were +R....
I've never been able to find them in stores but they apparently exist - at least on paper - since they are mentionned in the MMC-5 specifications even though if their counterpart, DVD-RW DL, aren't.
OK, thanks for the report. I'm closing the bug, feel free to reopen one if you run into a bug.
