GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 513763
Nautilus uses falback GTK+ icons with some desktop launchers
Last modified: 2010-12-19 01:08:19 UTC
Please describe the problem: After upgrade to nautilus 2.21.6 nautilus chooses my desktop icons wrong. The folder icon is taken from inherited theme, not current theme, and gnome-terminal icon (placed on desktop) does not have an icon at all. After upgrade to nautilus 2.21.90 problem persists. It worked with nautilus 2.20 fine. I am using http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/LiNsta-icons?content=62759 icons with index.theme modified to inherit from http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/nuoveXT+2?content=56625 and I'm seeing nuvoeXT folder icons on desktop, not LiNsta icons. The original Ubuntu launchpad bug is here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/185769 Steps to reproduce: Download http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/LiNsta-icons?content=62759 icons and set it as active theme. Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information:

This is not a duplicate of bug 511592. It's icon theme related, not icon metadata related. Please see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/188874 for a longer description of the problem. http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/nautilus?view=revision&revision=13646 created a regression with themes created for gnome pre 2.21 that do not comply with freedesktop icon theme standard.
The folder icon problem is related to nautilus changes to support freedesktop theme standard. I fixed the theme (using symlinks - see attachment). But gnome-terminal still shows default GTK+ icon (folded paper sheet).
Created attachment 104790 [details] shell script to fix old icon themes to new nautilus/fdo standard
I think this is just fixed using recent versions of nautilus and gnome-icon-theme. Closing as OBSOLETE.
