Hi, if I use IMAP there are any problems.
It should be possible to subscribe or to list folders before the INBOX.
That's not possible or visible in evolution:
+INBOX
      -subfolder1
      -subfolder2
+NOTVISIBLE_FOLDER
     -subfolder1
     -subfolder2

Distribution: Ubuntu 7.10 (gutsy)
Gnome Release: 2.20.1 2007-10-19 (Ubuntu)
BugBuddy Version: 2.18.1

that's a namespace issue. iirc evolution does not support imap folders outside of INBOX. you might want to compile evolution on your own and enable the experimental "imap4" provider in evolution-data-server.

I think this is a duplicate of #498475
Comment 3 Rafael Varela Pet 2010-03-11 20:33:36 UTC
From /usr/share/doc/evolution-data-server/README.Debian:

In versions prior to 2.8, two different IMAP providers (backend modules) were installed. "IMAP" was considered more stable and "IMAP4rev1" had a few experimental features. Starting with version 2.8, IMAP4rev1 has been removed. All accounts with IMAP4rev1 set as server type for incoming email must be switched to IMAP.

Anyone has information on the status of the IMAP4 backend?
Comment 4 Matthew Barnes 2010-03-11 21:13:41 UTC
It's dead. We're working toward replacing the original IMAP provider with a new one that has IDLE support. It will debut in Evolution 2.30, appearing as "IMAP+" in the account type selector.

Hi mail,
if you have time, could you please check again whether this issue still happens in Evolution 3.8.5 (with the new IMAP+ backend) and update this report by adding a comment and changing the "Version" field and provide information about your distribution? Thanks a lot.
