Description Tristan Brindle 2008-01-30 16:27:11 UTC
Most IM protocols allow the user to specify the font, colour, and in some cases even the size and background colour of text that's sent. Empathy should:

a) Allow the user to select a default font/colour for their outgoing messages

b) Display incoming messages with the correct formatting
Comment 1 Xavier Claessens 2008-02-06 12:52:13 UTC
We first need an interface on telepathy Text channels for that.
Comment 2 Guillaume Desmottes 2008-04-11 12:25:31 UTC
The telepathy-spec bug: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15449
Comment 3 Danielle Madeley 2009-04-22 07:02:41 UTC
The solution is to use the Messages interface (http://telepathy.freedesktop.org/spec/org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Channel.Interface.Messages.html).

This should be possible once the Adium branch is merged (#522069).

Does the adium branch merge have a schedule?
Comment 6 Xavier Claessens 2009-05-30 09:01:08 UTC
It needs review from an empathy developer. There is no plan atm, but hopefully "soon".
Comment 7 Nicolò Chieffo 2009-05-30 09:25:18 UTC
Thanks!
I have another question: can custom emoticons be considered part of this bug, or should I open another issue?
Comment 8 Xavier Claessens 2009-05-30 16:12:38 UTC
Custom smileys is something different. I'm pretty sure there is already a bug open about that but I can't find it right now.
