Description Jan "Yenya" Kasprzak 2008-01-28 09:57:31 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I use a dual-head setup (two separate screens :0.0 and :0.1, not Xinerama/Xrandr/MergedFB), and there is a problem in Workspace switcher applet in Fedora 8:

Each screen has its own panel with its own workspace switcher applet, and
I use 3x3 workspaces on each screen. It works, but when I log out and then log in back, both workspace switchers seem to manage the :0.0 head. The workspace switcher on the :0.1 head displays windows which are on the :0.0 head, clicking
to it moves windows on the :0.0 head, etc.

When I remove the workspace switcher from the panel on the :0.1 head, I can add it back (using right-click on the :0.1 panel, -> Add to panel -> Workspace switcher), I can configure it back to 3x3 workspaces (initially it gets added with 1x9 workspaces), and it correctly manages the secondary (:0.1) head.

However, when I log out and log in back, the problem reappears.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Run a dual-head setup with two separate screens
2. Add a panel and a workspace switcher to each screen.
3. Verify that each workspace switcher manages its own screen.
4. Log out.
5. Log in.
6. Verify that each workspace switcher manages its own screen.

Actual results:
Both workspace switchers seem to manage the primary (:0.0) head.

Expected results:
Each workspace switcher should manage its own head.

Does this happen every time?
Yes. However, it worked in Fedora 7 (GNOME 2.18) on the same computer.

Other information:
This is probably similar to bug #479959, but not the same - I have installed even the latest libwnck 2.20.3 mentioned there, but this does not fix the problem.

This is fully updated Fedora 8/x86_64, libwnck-2.20.3-1.fc8.x86_64, gnome-panel-2.20.2-1.fc8.x86_64.

I use sawfish as my window manager.

Most probably bug 479959. Please try with libwnck >= 2.21.90.
