It may be that folder names are defined at the first configuration of the account. Could you create a new test user on your system, and try to configure a new Evolution account for him?
On my system, folder names are in French...
Comment 2 Pascal Kreyer 2008-01-25 12:10:51 UTC
I have removed all account in Evolution then $HOME/.gconf/apps/evolution and $HOME/.evolution, and this is still the same.

Inbox, pourriels and trash are translated, but not all other folders.

Is it specific on mail servers ? Why is this problem not reproducible with Thunderbird ?

Sorry, I didn't notice the "imap" part of the subject.
I just tested to connect through imap to one of my addresses (Exchange server). The folder names are exactly the same as they are when I'm connecting with Outlook Web Access (that is in French).
Either way, Evolution in GNOME 2.20 is entirely translated in French, so this bug should be reassigned in Evolution product.
Comment 4 André Klapper 2008-01-25 13:54:11 UTC
well, the only thing that MUST exist is the Inbox folder. the trash and the junk folders are evolution's own folders and not IMAP folders on the server.
for the rest of the folders, it's entirely up to your IMAP provider and not evolution's problem.
