GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 51103
Convolution Matrix - load/save settings
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Calling up the Filters->Generic->Convolution Matrix and entering the 5 x 5 matrix is a pain if it has to be done time and again. To promote the usability of this plugin and to encourage experimentation, a "Load/Save settings" feature is mandatory. This would make the plugin much more useful if there is a way to save desired settings for re-use later... and best if there is an interface to scripts which can call the plugin with a specified settings file..
Re-assigning all Gimp bugs to default component owner (Gimp bugs list)
Reassigned to current CVS because it's a wishlist item.
I am happy to report that the requirements for a "Save" settings function has been partially satisfied by a Script-fu written by Iccii. See http://isweb6.infoseek.co.jp/computer/wingimp/files/script/convolution -presets.scm With this script it is possible to save useful settings by doing some scheme coding, troublesome but sufficient for the time being. An additional nice-to-have feature would be a preview function, which would probably come in gimp 1.3 ? In Photoshop, the preview for the convolution presets is instantaneous, once the numbers are keyed into the matrix.
A preview will probably only come for 1.3/1.4 if someone contributes a patch for. I'd prefer a nice generic preview widget which would be a useful addition for almost all plug-ins. If noone takes the job it is however very likely that the plug-ins shipped with gimp-1.4 will not differ from the ones shipped with gimp-1.2.
Changes at the request of Dave Neary on the developer mailing list. I am changing many of the bugzilla reports that have not specified a target milestone to Future milestone. Hope that is acceptable.
#120829 is a more general solution to this request.
Closed since this report doesn't hold much useful information. We will have presets for all plug-ins as soon as http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=120829 is implemented. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 120829 ***
