GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 510904
Custom Report once created cannot be deleted or modified
Last modified: 2018-06-29 21:59:59 UTC
I created a custom report. However, would now like to change it. I would be happy to delete it and start all over; however, I cannot figure out how to delete it. Or, I would like to make a permanent (not temporary) change to the custom report; however, I cannot figure out how to save my changes.

Mod this up!
Part of this bug has been fixed in the current development version (2.3.x): it is now possible to delete a report. For modifying a report, you can use this workaround (again, only in the current development version): * Load the report * Delete the report from the list of custom reports * Make your change in the loaded report * Rename the report - if you wish to use the same name, you'll have to rename it twice, otherwise the save option won't be enabled * Save the report
Also, at least in my case, it would greatly reduce the amount of modifications needed, if there was a regexp/cost center/something type of account selection for reports; To elaborate my case: One of the businesses that I run operates in IT related consulting and owning and renting out apartments (Quite the synergy, eh?). Naturally since it's a single LLC entity, it's all in one big file. However, for tax reasons (Rental business, as a special case, is taxed separately from the consulting business) I have to be able to run "Combined income statement", "Income statement - Rentals only", and "Income statement - Everything but rentals". For non-legal reasons, I also run "Income statement - Apartment 1" etc reports. Currently I've solved this by having eg. Expenses:Interest Paid:Business and Expenses:Interest Pain:Rentals accounts (to over-simplify). What I would really want, was to have a hierarchical Cost center attribute attached to accounts, so that for example I could just run a report "Income statement - Rentals", and have it select all accounts with CC "2.*", * being a wildcard...
Could you make this a separate enhancement request please. Although deleting/modifying saved reports and a cost center/regexp type of account selection would help you in the same area, they are two totally different features to implement in GnuCash. Let's keep this bug about deleting and modifying saved reports only.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. However, you are using a version that is too old and not supported anymore. The GnuCash developers are no longer working on that version, so either this bug has already been fixed or unfortunately there will not be any bug fixes for the version that you use. The current stable version of gnucash is 2.4.0 now. In the (hopefully unlikely) case you discover the same bug in the very latest stable version, do not hesitate to REOPEN it again. Also, feel free to file other bugs or enhancement requests that you find. Thank you very much!
