Please describe the problem:
Independently from the side-pane displays the Index (Document structure) or the Thumbnails (Pages of the document), the side-pane's width cannot be reduced to 0 (or to a few) pixels, trying to pull the right side of the pane's border to left by the mouse's left button. It seems to be having tab (stop) points when reducing the pane's width. The tabs have 112 pixels (see below). If the right side of the pane's border goes through a (or some) tab point(s), the pane's width can be reduced back to the closest tab point only, independently from how many tab point have been jumped through.

In ~/.gnome2/evince/ev-metadata.xml file, the the sidebar_size key can have the following tab points: ..., 370, 482, 594, 706, ...

Overwriting the sidebar_size key to from a tab point to the next tab point minus 9 (e.g. from 370 to 473), at the next start of the evince application, the side-pane width is what has been set in the ev-metadata.xml file. If the sidebar_size key is greater than a tab point (e.g. from 371 to 473), the pane's width can be reduced back to the closest tab point (e.g. to 370).

Overwriting the sidebar_size key to from a tab point minus 8 to the same tab point minus 1 (e.g. from 474 to 481), at the next start of the evince application, the side-pane width is increased automatically to the closest next tab point (e.g. 482).


Steps to reproduce:
1. Enable to show the side-pane (sidebar).
2. Press and hold down the mouse's left button on the right side of the side-pane's border. 
3. Move the mouse to right close to the right side border of the screen. (Do not release the mouse button!)
4. Move back to left close to the left side border of the screen. The side-pane's right border stops close to the right side border of screen.
5. Release the left mouse button. Nothing changes. The side-pane width keeps the same as where the pane's right border stopped.



Actual results:
The side-pane's width does not reduced as expected.

Expected results:
The side-pane's width should change (reduce) according to the mouse moves.

Does this happen every time?
Yes.

Maybe, it is important: I use 1280x1024 resolution, and Evince 0.8.2.
