The problem started when the testing Debian distribution was upgraded one week ago.

I do not know how to reproduce the problem. The program "gnome-panel" begin to eat almost all CPU suddenly, after having worked for many hours. After killing "gnome-panel", other process seem to work perfectly.

I have three panels on the Desktop, with many launchers and the following applets on them:
