GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 508738
default charset is hard coded
Last modified: 2011-12-03 20:52:38 UTC
Hi Charles, Could I choose the default charset at the installation or in the menu ; for French people iso-8859-15 would be better than utf-8. When posting to a new newsgroups I often forgot that I post in Utf-8 :( Happy New Year 2008!
I'm using Pan 0.132 on Ubuntu 7.10 I've saw on usenet that It could be chosen by compilation : in gui/gui.cc: set_charset (_group_prefs.get_string (group, "character-encoding", "UTF-8")); But I didn't tested it.
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. However, you are using a version that is too old and not supported anymore. GNOME developers are no longer working on that version, so unfortunately there will not be any bug fixes for the version that you use. By upgrading to a newer version of GNOME you could receive bug fixes and new functionality. You may need to upgrade your Linux distribution to obtain a newer version of GNOME. Please feel free to reopen this bug if the problem still occurs with a newer version of GNOME.
This bug is on Pan which is still developed, the latest version is 0.135 which is a pre-1.0 beta. Pan run without gnome on my computers. Pan bugs are not on bugzilla.gnome.org??? http://pan.rebelbase.com/
Ok, you're right, I can "new" it and let it be for the moment. Sorry, I was in a cleanup frenzy.
This problem has been fixed in our software repository. The fix will go into the next software release. Thank you for your bug report.
