GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 506524
F11/Leave Fullscreen buttons do not leave full screen mode
Last modified: 2008-11-09 09:15:17 UTC
Please describe the problem: Pressing F11 or clicking the Leave Fullscreen button in the toolbar no longer causes the program to resume normal size and a window mode. The program did not exhibit this behavior when I first started using it a couple days ago, after doing a fresh install of Fedora 8. When starting the program now it is immediately in Full Screen mode. Steps to reproduce: 1. Launch program 2. Press F11 or click on Leave Fullscreen button in toolbar 3. Nothing changes Actual results: Nothing Expected results: Application should resume a normal window mode at a normal size. Does this happen every time? Yes, since whatever caused it to happen the first time happened. Other information: The application appears to be working fine although on the status line, whenever I choose a New game in the toolbar, the Moves Left value changes with each new game invocation. The value is a single digit ranging down from 9 to 2. I have checked this about 20-30 times, but have made no attempt to rigorously determine it's range or randomness. This is the only other oddity I have found. I'd not notice if this was happening prior to the issue with F11/Leave Fullscreen cropping up.
Possibly metacity bug 461927.
This problem has affected a number of games and the fullscreen code is in libgames-support so reassigning to the general component. This doesn't seem to be a problem since GNOME Games 2.24 and Metacity 2.24 (at least for me and not more bug duplicates). With some playing around and reading the reports the easiest way to reproduce this bug was to set the width and height gconf keys for a game to your screen resolution. The result is leave fullscreen goes from fullscreen to a window the size of the screen (which I guess Metacity was interpreting as fullscreen?). A flicker was visible when this occured. I don't know if the incorrect width/height being stored in gconf was a bug in libgames-support or the configure/state change window events but it doesn't seem to occur now. Closing DONE.
