GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 503916
Support for other disc image formats
Last modified: 2018-08-21 08:23:28 UTC
I had a talk about burning applications on linux with some friends today. One feature that nearly everyone seems to be missing in the current apps seems to be support for some of the more popular image formats: * Clone CD (.ccd, .img, .sub) * Alcohol 120% (.mdf, mds) * Prassi (?) (.gi) * Nero (.nrg) Right now these require using windows software most of the time I think. Would be great if Brasero could have native support to burn and/or convert them. Perhaps as individual plugins?
I completely agree with you; that was what I also had in mind when I created plugin system backend: be able to add easily such functionality. I already gathered a few information about these formats. Now the problem is time; I think I'll start to integrate the most common formats (probably nero's) by 0.8.x.
Sounds nice. Also, perhaps implementing one or two of those would make a nice project for next year's google summer of code? (if there will be a soc next year)
Yeah the idea is awesome and it's enough work to do in SOC, maybe we can propose it.
I hope this feature will be implemented soon! Thanks
These image format all look proprietary to me. Do you have reliable official documentations for the formats inquestion?

Closing this bug report as no further information has been provided. Please feel free to reopen this bug report if you can provide the information that was asked for in a previous comment, and request *one* format per *one* report, if (some of) those formats are still popular nowadays. Thanks!
