Please describe the problem:
Preferences window default min size too big to fit on 1024x768 screen

Steps to reproduce:
1. Edit > Preferences
2. 
3. 


Actual results:
Preferences window expands to a size too big for the screen, "Close" button is off screen and window requires moving to access (pita) - much bigger than is necessary to contain the elements of the window

Expected results:
Window is a sensible size

Does this happen every time?
Yes
