Please describe the problem:
no sound at all

Steps to reproduce:
1. open any mp3,ogg,wav
2. or put cd in drive and play with rythembox
3. 


Actual results:
i get this message :
Error playing CD.

Reason: Resource busy or not available.

then this:
Error playing CD.

Reason: Internal GStreamer error: state change failed.  Please file a bug at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=GStreamer.

and no sound


Expected results:
hear some sound

i am a complete novice, please give instructions step by step

are you sure that a soundcard is defined on your system, and that no other application is playing sopund at the same time? which distribution is this?

If you can't play sound with any program at all, then there's probably something wrong with your system setup (what error are you getting from mplayer?)  Probably best to consult your distro's support forums to get this sorted out.

As a starting point, try going to:

  System => Preferences => Sound

and then try different settings for the 'Music and Movies' audio output there.


As for the GStreamer side of things, the rotten error message is a known bug in gconfaudiosink, so closing bug as duplicate.
