Description Eckhard M. Jäger 2007-11-24 10:18:03 UTC
A feature that is often aksed in the community is how to view saved messages ( eml files ) with Evolution for easy reading the message and may save the attachments.
At the moment everybody says "Install Thunderbird too, Evolution can't do that.".
I didn't like it to have two email applications installed one for mailing and the other just for viewing.
Often messages saved for getting the information, files and contacts as a single file to give it to somebody that works offline.
To viewing eml files with Thunderbird means you have to create a profile first and disabling the check as the default mail application.
It would be very cool just using Evo for all that.

Thanx.

Bump, encounter the same "bug" here. Note that I can view the message by saving the *.eml file, creating a new message, joining the *.eml file, saving it into Drafts, and then when I reopen it, I can see the original *.eml file, with images and everything. There should be an easier way to do this. Thanks !

I took this as "Preview before import from command line", so when you run evolution like:
   $ evolution /path/to/file/to/import
then the file content is shown before it is imported, supposing one can actually import data from that file. It works for mbox files as well as for calendar and address book files. The email part has its disadvantages, as is the async filling, but that may be replaced later, when the time for webkit will be here.
