Description Lorant Nemeth 2007-11-12 12:55:25 UTC
Please describe the problem:
In case of an HTML mail containing images (daily dilbert) and although there's a proxy defined in gnome settings (doesn't matter if there's a separate HTTP/SHTTP/FTP/ setting or "Use the same..." is turned on) evolution still tries to connect directly to the webserver several times before it would use the proxy defined in gnome. As direct connection is not possible in most of the cases people use a proxy this makes image downloads really slow.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Set an http proxy address in gnome settings
2. open evolution
3. open an html mail containing an image (make sure the image haven't been cached by evolution itself)

Actual results:
if you monitor with tshark the network traffic you'll see SYN packets sent out directly to the server containing the image in the mail/

Expected results:
evolution should first connect to the proxy server and maybe later fall back to direct connection if former doesn't succeed.

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Other information:
Mailbox is accessed on a different interface (ppp0) than the proxy (eth0).
