Maybe more power can be saved if those values (especially the value for blanking the screen) can be set below 11 minutes. Maybe the sliders should allow values starting with 1 minute.

You can resolve this by lowering the "time to make the
computer idle" setting in Gnome-Screensaver-settings. You can only set the
sliders in GPM to numbers bigger than the idle setting in GSS. I know it seems
silly, but GPM only finds out that the system is "idle" once you exceed that
time.
