Description Akhil Laddha 2007-11-07 05:12:17 UTC
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=195548

Normal request receipt often fails when people have the ability to NOT send a
receipt.

When an Email is digitally signed by X.509 certificate S/MIME there is the
ability to request S/MIME receipt which cannot be ignored and the sent message
disposition is always returned by mail servers or user without their knowledge.

This is a very important part of message tracking.

We need the ability to request S/MIME receipt of such digitally signed
messages.

This is an imperative part of the security offered by S/MIME digital signature
where a digital receipt IS required for security reasons.

Please consider this enhancement most seriously.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new enhancement request ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
