GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 492988
line breaks are harcoded
Last modified: 2007-11-19 14:45:37 UTC
Hello, I open a bug here but I'm not really sure this is the right component. I saw in various dialog of various programs that some sentences don't go to the end of the dialog and are broken on a second in the middle of the dialog window. (I'm sure my explanation is not really clear, sorry). I'm going to attach a screenshot as example. I'm don't if I should open also one bug per bug I saw, perhaps someone will need to confirm this is really a bug introduced in the freench translation before?
Created attachment 98443 [details] example of line break in the middle of the length. the 1st line couuld have continued after "ce"
Here comes the translation from gnome-panel-2.20 #: ../gnome-panel/panel-recent.c:169 msgid "" "If you clear the Recent Documents list, you clear the following:\n" "• All items from the Places → Recent Documents menu item.\n" "• All items from the recent documents list in all applications." msgstr "" "Si vous videz la liste des documents récents, vous videz ce qui suit :\n" "• Tous les éléments du sous-menu Raccourcis → Documents récents.\n" "• Tous les éléments de la liste des documents récents de toutes les " "applications." There is no line break, so it seems the root case is not the translation.
Seems that the text zone width is somewhat hardcoded. It would be interesting to have vuntz comment about this problem. This bug should probably be reassigned to gnome-panel.
I saw this problem in another program so I'm reassigning this bug to GTK+
Basically a dup of 101968 ... though it could be worked around in GtkDialog to some extent, *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 101968 ***
