What were you doing when the application crashed?
I switched the FontRendering radiobuttons in FontPreferences from
BestContrast to Monochrome (which was the original setting anyway)

thanks for your bugreport :) Can you perfectly reproduce this issue and give a recipe on how to make it crash?

Anyway, this looks like bug 449996 to me, hence marking it as such.
