Description René Brandenburger 2007-10-23 12:00:55 UTC
I have quite a lot of Information stored in Tomboy notes. While Beagle supports searching Tomboy notes, Tracker does not. It would be nice if tracker could index Tomboy notes too.
Comment 1 Sven J. 2008-01-19 23:10:27 UTC
i second this request, it would be great
Comment 2 Gina Haeussge 2008-02-18 10:41:24 UTC
And an additional +1 for this feature from me as well.
Comment 3 linickx 2008-02-27 12:42:26 UTC
+1 :-)
Comment 4 Corné 2008-07-22 10:34:21 UTC
Totally agree. Really miss this functionality right now.
Comment 5 Dave Vree 2008-10-30 18:02:30 UTC
This is one the key features of Beagle keeping from switching to Tracker. Add +1 for this feature!!!
Comment 6 Ivan Frade 2008-12-30 11:14:31 UTC
The application developer or any contributor can write a filter or module for tracker to support these files.

Feel free to ask or comment in tracker mailing list or IRC channel (#tracker in freenode).
Comment 7 Thomas M. 2009-06-05 09:29:59 UTC
+1 (it also keeps me from switching from Beagle)

Any hint at a short documentation on how to write a tracker module or filter would be helpful, in case someone would be ready to spend some time on the issue.

Can the reporter of this bug set the _version_ so we can target bugs to work on more easily please. We can also have an idea about if these bugs are likely to be obsolete too.

If you don't set the version, we are less likely to look at them.

Sorry for the spam, but I don't want to say this 88 times on each bug :)
Comment 9 Thomas M. 2010-03-11 15:34:13 UTC
Does it makes sense to "set the version" to an enhancement request ?
Comment 10 Sandy Armstrong 2010-03-11 15:38:12 UTC
Setting version to "trunk", even though we use git, and even though this is an enhancement and therefore applies to all versions.

The "spam" comes off a bit aggressively in cases like this, just fyi (though of course I sympathize with the problem in your non-enhancement bugs).
Comment 11 Ivan Frade 2010-03-11 19:27:24 UTC
In the 0.7 series, tracker is not anymore discovering the files of the applications, but are the application setting the data directly into tracker.

To have Tomboy notes into tracker we need:

1) few classes in the data schema (ontology) for notes, already under discussion
http://live.gnome.org/Tracker/Discussion/GnomeOntologies

2) A plugin in Tomboy saving/updating notes in tracker

We can keep the bug open as "Tracker should have an schema to save tomboy notes"
Comment 12 Ivan Frade 2011-03-09 13:44:58 UTC
The ontology is updated with a new Note class, and we have a Tracker plugin to index the notes in tracker:

http://gitorious.org/tomboy-tracker/tomboy-tracker

Still experimental, but hopefully we can close this bug.
