Steps to reproduce:
I extracted a huge source code tarball and opened it's propertied in nautilus. while nautilus was calculating it's size, I renamed the folder by mistake from a terminal. nautilus quit with this error:

 ** (nautilus:5949): WARNING **: destroyed file still being monitored  ** ERROR **: file nautilus-directory-background.c: line 616 (nautilus_connect_background_to_file_metadata): assertion failed: (NAUTILUS_IS_FILE (old_file))

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
Without a stack trace from the crash it's very hard to determine what caused it.
Can you get us a stack trace? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Please also make sure that you have debuginfo packages installed for nautilus, gtk2 and glib2. Thanks in advance!

This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but the maintainers need more information to fix the bug. Could you please answer the questions in the other report in order to help the developers?
