GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 484930
Program will not start
Last modified: 2018-06-29 21:51:34 UTC
Steps to reproduce: 1. ask program to start - happens every time since install 2. 3. Stack trace: I don't have a stack trace, but I do get an error message box. This is cut and past: Adding client to server's list failed, CORBA error: IDL:omg.org/CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0 Adding client to server's list failed, CORBA error: IDL:omg.org/CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0 Adding client to server's list failed, CORBA error: IDL:omg.org/CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0 Adding client to server's list failed, CORBA error: IDL:omg.org/CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0 Adding client to server's list failed, CORBA error: IDL:omg.org/CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0 Other information: This may be related to, or even the same as Bug #457100. I notice that under some conditions at least one person is getting the same error. I found a list here, http://www.osalt.com/2007/01/gnucash-for-windows, where other people seemed to have the same problem and someone figured out a workaround of disabling the network connect on his Windows Vista box (I'm running W2K). The same thing worked on mine. Just went into the Control Panel and told it to disable the connection I was currently using. Running the program once and saving whats been set-up does not seem to help. I appear to need to disable the network connection each time I start the program, but once it is up and running I seem to be able to re-enable the connection with no ill effects. I am running W2K/SP4/512KB on a laptop.
Sorry, I guess I didn't look as thoroughly for similar problems as I thought I did. This appears to be Bug #363648 and putting in the older version of ORBit seems to have dealt with it. Oops.
