GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 483450
nm-applet disappears when entering blank group password for vpnc.
Last modified: 2007-12-26 10:02:36 UTC
Please describe the problem: I have a blank group password for my Cisco VPN access. However, when using vpnc, it tends to not work unless the group password (IPSec secret) is: B@dP@ssw0rd?N0B1scu1t4U. Yea, I honestly don't get that. I have vpnc set up for working on the command line, but I've been trying the nm-applet vpnc lately. One thing that happens: if I enter a blank group password, nm-applet just disappears from the task bar. It's still visible in the system monitor, but not accessible. Trying to restart it doesn't work. Steps to reproduce: 1. Connect to Cisco VPN with blank group password using vpnc through nm-applet 2. 3. Actual results: nm-applet disappears Expected results: create a VPN connection. Does this happen every time? yes, and it's annoying. Other information:
Actually, if you leave either password blank, nm-applet will disappear. I have a site I connect into that has group only authentication set up. So no username/userpassword. When connecting and prompted for user and group password, only filling in the group password and hitting OK will bomb out nm-applet.
