GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 482840
Bug-buddy makes other applications crash
Last modified: 2007-10-06 18:47:24 UTC
Please describe the problem: Hello there, I've been having this funny problem with bug-buddy and azureus lately: whenever I'd start Azureus (both 2.5 branch and 3.0 branch), bug-buddy would appear saying that Gecko (3.0) and SWT (2.5 & 3.0) crashed, create the stacktrace and prompting to report the bug to the upstream developers. Since the problem was present on my laptop too, I reported it to the Azureus developers: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1801310&group_id=84122&atid=575154 and if you scroll down to the end of the page you'll see their advice to remove bug-buddy. I did and the problem actually disappears. On that page you also find the generated stacktraces, that I assume could be helpful to you. Is it actually a bug in bug-buddy, or is it some kind of incompatibility with applications external to Gnome? Is there a way to tell bug-buddy to care only about Gnome applications? Btw, I run Debian Sid on AMD64. Thanks for your help! Steps to reproduce: 1. Unpack Azureus (2.5 or 3.0) from azureus.sourceforge.net 2. Install bug-buddy 2.20.0-3 3. Launch Azureus. Actual results: Bug-buddy appears twice and generates the two stacktraces. Expected results: To use Azureus :) Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information: Azureus 2.5 and 3.0, Java 1.6, Debian Sid on AMD64, Gnome 2.20, bug-buddy 2.20.0-3.
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but we are happy to tell you that the problem has already been fixed. It should be solved in the next software version. You may want to check for a software upgrade. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 479929 ***
