GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 48198
"New Terminal" does not use GNOME default applications
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Right clicking on the desktop and choosing ``New Terminal'' always starts a GNOME terminal, ignoring the program you've chosen in default applications in the control center. * REPRODUCIBLE: Always * STEPS TO REPRODUCE: Go to Control Center | Default Applications | Terminal. Choose ``Standard XTerminal.'' Right click on desktop, choose ``New Terminal.'' * ACTUAL RESULTS: GNOME Terminal starts * EXPECTED RESULTS: The program I've chosen in the control center (in my case, a standard Xterm) should start. ------- Additional Comments From darin@bentspoon.com 2001-04-30 15:33:43 ---- I made it use the GNOME default application, but it's far from perfect. For example, since the GNOME default application and args are used by the panel to start programs, I had to not use the args when doing New Terminal, because in that case you don't want to execute a command in the window. And GMC also didn't use the GNOME default application when doing New Terminal (this code was copied straight out of GMC). Let me know if you find ways to improve the new code -- I am a bit hamstrung by wanting to use the existing setting rather than inventing a new one of my own. ------- Bug moved to this database by unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org 2001-09-09 21:18 ------- The original reporter (umbrook0@cs.umanitoba.ca) of this bug does not have an account here.
