When  a pdf file has two blocks split vertically in same page (example 
http://linuxdevices.com/files/misc/GPLv2_vs_GPLv3.pdf )
and you select text it selects both sections where as you expect only one of the section to be selected (A screenshot attached which explains this situation). This prevents one to copy text and paste it to some other document.

you cannot copy more than one line as it would be meaningless to have both sections mixed.

you can't use the pasted text directly, you will have to edit each lines.
