GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 47987
Rename dot-file -> File name change not displayed
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
If you try to rename a Desktop file to ".whatever", the rename successfully completes (checked via command line), but the file name on the desktop does not change until the second rename attempt. * REPRODUCIBLE: Always * STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1. Right-click on your desktop, and select "New Folder". Press enter to accept an initial name of "untitled folder". 2. Right-click on the newly created folder. Type in a new name of ".foo" (no quotes), and press enter. Wait a few seconds. * ACTUAL RESULTS: The file name attached to your desktop icon will still be ".foo". However, if you ls /home/{your user name}/.nautilus/desktop, it'll be renamed to ".foo", as it will also be if you right-click on the file and choose Show Properties. ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2001-04-05 13:10:02 ---- Stealing QA ownership of bug (as reporter). ------- Additional Comments From darin@bentspoon.com 2001-04-11 16:22:12 ---- Not specific to the desktop. ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2001-04-23 17:57:18 ---- Verified fixed in most recent RPM build. - Performing steps to reproduce no longer triggers this bug. - Dot-files dragged to the desktop immediately disappear - Performing steps to reproduce in a folder with "Show hidden files" disabled does not trigger this bug. ------- Bug moved to this database by unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org 2001-09-09 21:19 ------- Bug blocks bug(s) 47988.
