GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 47968
entry for gimp application should be changed to use gimp-remote
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Many image file formats are associated with the gimp. They should be opened with 'gimp-remote -n' instead so that they are open inside an existent instance of gimp instead of launching a new gimp everytime. ------- Additional Comments From darin@bentspoon.com 2001-04-02 13:23:36 ---- A great idea. ------- Additional Comments From darin@bentspoon.com 2001-04-02 13:25:22 ---- My copy of gimp does not include anything called gimp-remote. I have an RPM marked gimp-1.1.25-1. If we made this change, I'd be unable to edit pictures with The GIMP with Nautilus on my machine at all. Maybe I just missed something here. ------- Additional Comments From amfc@usa.net 2001-04-03 06:34:22 ---- You have an old version of gimp. gimp-remote is included in version 1.2 which is the current stable version. Please check http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51361 ------- Additional Comments From amfc@usa.net 2001-04-05 21:45:56 ---- For some weird reason Ximian's Gimp RPM does not include the file (but it does include the man page). It is there if I compile from source. ------- Additional Comments From quinet@gamers.org 2001-04-06 02:28:52 ---- I have reported this problem to Ximian: http://bugzilla.ximian.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2120 ------- Additional Comments From darin@bentspoon.com 2001-04-25 15:05:35 ---- *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 48162 *** ------- Bug moved to this database by unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org 2001-09-09 21:19 -------
