Description Kevin Duffus 2007-09-21 21:18:45 UTC
It would be nice if Metacity could produce a tooltip when mousing over the title bar text if the window's title was been ellipsized.
Comment 1 Thomas Thurman 2007-10-19 18:49:29 UTC
That's a good idea: I'll think about ways to do that.

Comment 3 Ted Percival 2008-03-07 06:59:05 UTC
Kevin, did you mean truncated? Title bars are never ellipsized as far as I can tell. (Metacity 2.23.0, Clearlooks theme.)
Comment 4 Ted Percival 2008-03-07 07:02:12 UTC
(That wasn't meant to sound so rude.) Maybe a particular application shows an ellipsized window title.
Comment 5 Kevin Duffus 2008-06-02 16:23:18 UTC
Ted: no worries. i didn't take your comment as being offensive. i don't recall exactly which app ellipsized its window title but it does appear that a lot of the apps in GNOME have their title's truncated when it exceeds the length of the window. Bug summary updated.

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all
old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years.

If you still use metacity and if you are still requesting this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/metacity/-/issues/

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be implemented.
