Steps to reproduce:
1. Load a sample image with an ICC profile (16 bit TIFF with ProPhoto Profile)
2. Choose not to convert the colors to sRGB
(The application crashes. The application does not crash if you choose to convert the colors. Also with GIMP 2.2.17 there is no crash)

This image crashes the precompiled GIMP 2.4.0-rc2 on Windows/XP SP2 if I choose not to convert the colors to sRGB color space.

Works just fine here so this is most probably just another duplicate of bug #469567. It doesn't make much sense to report crashes for 2.4.0-rc1 and 2.4.0-rc2 as it crashes all the time.
