Looks a bit like 1671.

------- Additional Comments From mattsm@mcclintock.net 2001-03-17 10:22:41 ----

It looks kind of like it, but still Line up icons, in my opinion, differs from
auto-arrange. I want to be able to organize the icons like I want them, and then
line them up so they look pretty.

Assigning to Arlo to think about.

I've said all along we need the ability to arrange desktop items somehow.

This bug represents the one-shot version of this... a "Clean up <area>"
context menu would be great so taht it snaps the icons to the closest grid
location.

Assiging to engber, and cc'ing sullivan and gzr.

------- Additional Comments From salimma1@yahoo.co.uk 2001-05-11 17:35:44 ----

Could it be possible to 'lock' some items, and to specify the order of
arrangement (top, bottom, left, right, ascending/descending)? For instance I
would like to keep permanent links on one side of the screen, leaving the other
side for mountable devices, but if possible the devices should be on the right
side of the screen going vertically down like in MacOS
