Last modified: 2007-09-14 02:52:20 UTC
Steps to reproduce: 1. SEE BELOW. 2. 3. Stack trace: From: Robert Turner <ianyoli@hotmail.com> To: submit@bugs.gnome.org X-Mailer: bug-buddy 2.14.0 Subject: System locked up, (Crashed), when updating Ekiga from Version 2.0.1 to 2.0.9. Distribution: Ubuntu 6.06 (dapper) Package: ekiga Severity: Normal Version: GNOME2.14.3 2.0.9 Gnome-Distributor: Ubuntu Synopsis: System locked up, (Crashed), when updating Ekiga from Version 2.0.1 to 2.0.9. Bugzilla-Product: ekiga Bugzilla-Component: general Bugzilla-Version: 2.0.9 BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.14.1) Description: Description of the crash:Description of the crash: Using First Time Wizard to check new version: everything AOK, including Audio test of hardware, until reaching Video section, (Page 9). Clicking the Test button returned the message: "Failed Test". Clicked button to repeat the test, for comfirmation. There was no response and the system locked up. Mouse pointer could be moved, but controls did not respond. Had to switch off computer from the wall socket and reiniciate it. When it did so, a window opened with the message:" Ekiga has quit unexpectedly - Do you want to file a Bug report? ". It had buttons to: Cancel - Submit Bug Report - Start Ekiga again. This last one did not function, so I prepared a Bug Report. But when I came to submit it an error window opened whith the message: " Submission failed - Permission denied". I found the File: /doc/troubleshooting/other.html and went to Properties - Permissions and discovered that nobody had permission to execute the file. In a terminal, I used "chmod" to give "rwx" to myself, as root user. I confirmed that the change was accomplished. So this is my second try! When I have finished this report I will try to submit it again. Hopefully it should go this time. The webcam which is connected to the computer is made by: MicroSystems International, (MSI) and is their Model 370i. My O.S. is Ubuntu/Linux Version 6.06 LTS - Dapper, fully updated to the present date, including Kernels. Steps to reproduce the crash: AS ABOVE. 1. 2. 3. Expected Results: Some resolution of the problem. Also, I need to have Ekiga functioning normally, urgently, irrespective of Video/Webcam obstacles.(At present it willnot open). How often does this happen? Only once, so far. Additional Information: Steps to reproduce the crash: 1. 2. 3. Expected Results: How often does this happen?
