Jordan Friedman is running the RPM 3 installer on his Red Hat 6.2 system, and it
is reproducibly failing with a Fatal Error & Bug Buddy invocation as soon as he
enters the password.

(The command invocation is exactly as sent by e-mail.)

I can't get a stack trace out of gdb (duh) or Bug Buddy. The crash log is:

I wonder why the top line has a 0.5 version and old build date. I had just
assumed it was a bug, but other installers have the correct date.

Robey, I didn't check the log file date. Will make sure this is a valid log
file, rather than an obsolete one; perhaps none was written?

Robey, please disregard the log snippet. The file was dated 2/20/2001, and no
log is generated if I relaunch the installer after deleting the old log file.

the only way i can do anything about it is if he or someone else attaches to the
locked-up process.

since it happens before the segv handler is installed, it sounds like it's
another case of "crashes in gnome_init" which means we're totally doomed because
leaving tinderbox didn't fix this completely unsolvable problem. :(

We were able to subsequently reproduce it.

Robey and Eskil, didn't you fix this? Will leave resolution as WORKSFORME.

Robey thinks that this went away with the imlib fix. Rubber-stamping as
Verified/WORKSFORME, as Jordan is no longer with the company.
