GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 47574
installer crashes almost immediately on RH62
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Jordan Friedman is running the RPM 3 installer on his Red Hat 6.2 system, and it is reproducibly failing with a Fatal Error & Bug Buddy invocation as soon as he enters the password. (The command invocation is exactly as sent by e-mail.) I can't get a stack trace out of gdb (duh) or Bug Buddy. The crash log is: [root@localhost /tmp]# cat eazel-install.log | more : Eazel-Installer v0.5.0 (build 24Jan01-1917) : Trying to contact Eazel services... : START OVER : Prepping install page : callbacks.c:60 : FALSE FALSE FALSE TRUE : callbacks.c:72 : callbacks.c:104 : callbacks.c:106 : copying package : getting detailed errors : destroying copy : eazel_install_problem_tree_to_case ( pack = 0x0x8402b40, uninstall=FALSE) : get_detailed_cases_foreach (data->path = 0x(nil)) : get_detailed_cases_foreach (pack->status = ALREADY_INSTALLED) : copying package : getting detailed errors : destroying copy : eazel_install_problem_tree_to_case ( pack = 0x0x843a1f8, uninstall=FALSE) : get_detailed_cases_foreach (data->path = 0x(nil)) : get_detailed_cases_foreach (pack->status = ALREADY_INSTALLED) : out of post_install ---- Robey, ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2001-03-08 13:52:11 ---- I wonder why the top line has a 0.5 version and old build date. I had just assumed it was a bug, but other installers have the correct date. Robey, I didn't check the log file date. Will make sure this is a valid log file, rather than an obsolete one; perhaps none was written? ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2001-03-08 13:57:12 ---- Robey, please disregard the log snippet. The file was dated 2/20/2001, and no log is generated if I relaunch the installer after deleting the old log file. ------- Additional Comments From robey-bugs@lag.net 2001-03-08 14:56:06 ---- the only way i can do anything about it is if he or someone else attaches to the locked-up process. since it happens before the segv handler is installed, it sounds like it's another case of "crashes in gnome_init" which means we're totally doomed because leaving tinderbox didn't fix this completely unsolvable problem. :( ------- Additional Comments From robey-bugs@lag.net 2001-03-08 16:00:20 ---- we can't get this to happen anymore. *twilight zone music* please reopen if this re-appears, so we can try to trace what's going wrong. ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2001-03-09 10:43:29 ---- We were able to subsequently reproduce it. Robey and Eskil, didn't you fix this? Will leave resolution as WORKSFORME. ------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2001-03-22 16:05:52 ---- Robey thinks that this went away with the imlib fix. Rubber-stamping as Verified/WORKSFORME, as Jordan is no longer with the company. ------- Bug moved to this database by unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org 2001-09-09 21:10 -------
