Dan, can you reproduce this problem?

I cannot reproduce this error. Can anybody else? I don't think there is enough
information here to identify what is going wrong.

Marking as WORKSFORME. If anybody else can reproduce this or we can get more
information that can help track down what is going wrong, we may reopen this.

Try this:
  killall -9 nautilus ; nautilus-clean.sh -x

And then start up nautilus and see if it works.

I have had this problem. Sorry for the delay in reporting it. I had got the
idea it was a PR3 thing and fixed. Just for info, though, here goes.

Running gnome. Started nautilus at the command line. Up it came.

In the main window, clicked on help->about. came up fine.
In the main window, clicked on help->nautilus user manual. Bang.

Error dialogue: Application "nautilus-mozilla-content-view" (PID)
has crashed due to a fatal error. (Segmentation fault.)
Then a further error box on completing the bug-buddy routine and
getting windows out of the way: The Web Page view encountered an error
while starting up.

I get this for anything other than the about box.

This is a Red Hat 7.0 box with Ximian's rpms of Gnome 1.4beta1 on it.
Linux 2.2.16-22 i686. Red Hat Linux release 7.0 (Guinness)
gnome-core-1.3.0-0_helix_4
gnome-libs-1.2.12-0_helix_1
nautilus-0.8-0_helix_3
mozilla-0.7-0_helix_1

What else do you need or would you like? I have a bug-buddy-generated
stack trace or three if those help?

Robert -
Is this the beta release you are running? If so, others have reported this
problem, and I believe it is now fixed in cvs.
This also works for me with hourly rpms.

------- Additional Comments From robert@undecipherable.com 2001-03-05 07:26:05 ----

Yes, I'm currently testing Beta 1. The latest replication of this bug for me
was on the following platform:

Kernel: 2.4.2-ac8-smp
Distribution: Red Hat Linux release 7.0.91 (Wolverine)
Gnome-Core: gnome_core-1.3.0-0_helix_4
Nautilus: nautilus-0.8-0_helix_3
Window Manager: sawfish-0.37.2-0_helix_2
		and enlightenment-0.15.4-6

What should I be testing today (3/5) to ensure I'm giving you guys the most
useful information? Also, which packages will I need to upgrade to be on the
latest build of nautilus?

------- Additional Comments From dan@eazel.com 2001-03-05 11:01:17 ----

I think the hourly RPM's would be the best way to go:

Reopening the bug report. I just got the same bonobo warning and a crash with
the first_branch on RH6.2, and by the way, I had just done a; killall nautilus;
nautilus-clean; run-nautilus. I did not pass the -x argument to nautilus-clean
this time. My system is experiencing some problems with the eazel themes. I
don't know if that has anything to do with the crash and error messages, but I
thought I mentioned it.
1. Clicked on the My Computer Icon and back arrow
2. Clicked on the Services Icon in the same directory and back arrow
Crash and error message on the console.
victor@vorlon /gnome-source/ONE_BRANCH $ killall nautilus
victor@vorlon /gnome-source/ONE_BRANCH $ nautilus-clean.sh

------- Additional Comments From sullivan@eazel.com 2001-03-08 09:32:42 ----

I'm spinning Victor's account into new bug 47558 because it is not at all clear
that it is related to the first problem reported here. Changing this one back to
its previous resolution of WORKSFORME.
