GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 472578
Unusably sluggish
Last modified: 2018-06-29 21:47:45 UTC
When I opened GnuCash for the first time it opened the main dialog and an error message dialog saying that a file was not found. When I closed the error dialog, the main dialog stayed open and I could still use it. It did not display the "New Account Hierarchy Setup" wizard that is mentioned in the GnuCash help file. The second time I ran GnuCash (after closing the first instance), it would not open until a full three minutes later. I see a command prompt window open briefly with gconfd-2.exe in the title, but the main GnuCash dialog doesn't open for another three minutes. Note that the sluggish performance did not occur the first time I opened GnuCash, just the subsequent times. Killing the running GnuCash processes (ie. gnucash-bin.exe and gconfd-2.exe) does not change the slow performance. I am running Windows XP Pro x64. It is a very fast computer, and I am not seeing slow behavior with any other software package.
When I uninstalled and reinstalled GnuCash, it takes a long time to load again. After the reinstall, the first time I opened it, it did not display any error messages. I didn't mention before that it also takes a long time to do certain actions such as New -> New Accounts Page.
