In the Preferences window -> when you select "Theme" and click on a theme in the "Select Theme" box, GIMP crashes.

(I'm using the Default theme. When I click on the "Small" theme Gimp will crash)

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
Without a stack trace from the crash it's very hard to determine what caused it.

I am unable to reproduce this on Linux, are you sure your installation, and in particular your Small Theme installation, is not corrupt?
