GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 466959
using semicolons to seperate recipients drops recipients
Last modified: 2009-07-25 14:31:19 UTC
I've written in the TO field, 7 email addresses separated by a semicolon. The mail was sent, no error/warning was displayed but when I've opened the mail from Sent Items folder I saw that it was sent only to the first email address. Distribution: Ubuntu 7.04 (feisty) Gnome Release: 2.18.1 2007-04-10 (Ubuntu) BugBuddy Version: 2.18.1
so only one message is displayed in the sent folder? can you take a look at the "To:" header row in the message source ("view -> all message headers") if it includes only one or all seven addresses?
(In reply to comment #1) Yes, I've checked the message headers and only one address is displayed in the To line. This is an obvious bug, in my opinion. I can reproduce it any time. Just enter 3 addresses separated by a semicolon and a space, like this: address1@domain.com; address2@domain.com; address3@domain.com ..and with the Evolution version that I'm using (2.10.1) you'll be able to see that the message is only sent to address1@domain.com.
A user on my network, using Evolution 2.10.1 on Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn), reported this very same bug to me a few days ago. We tried several times and it indeed appears that all addresses, apart from the first one, are simply thrown away with no error message whatsoever. Copies of sent messages also show the first address only. This happens with the "To" field, as well as with "CC" and "BCC". I think it would be advisable, if the development team is not willing to make Evolution accept semicolons instead of commas, to at least warn the user about such unexpected behavior.
