Description duane 2001-09-10 01:00:38 UTC
OS: Red Hat 7.0
Nautilus: Hourly Build Feb 12 14:17:16 2001

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch Nautilus.
2. Open the Help sidebar pane.
3. Open up the 'Info' area.
4. Click on the 'automake (info)' area.
-> The GNU Automake info page opens up and you see 'info:automake' in the
Location bar.
5. Click on the 'Examples' link underneath Contents.
-> The location bar changes to 'info:automake#Examples'.

Expected Results:
The web page view should be moved down to the web page portion of the info file.
Actual Results:
The web page refreshes, but remains at the top of the GNU Automake info page.

-> I have verified this as well with a few others such as the 'autoconf' info
page so I am fairly certain without going through all of the thousands of
entries that this is an overall problem.

Whether this is a duplicate or a variance, it does look fairly similar to bug
#42057. At least in the sense that fixing that bug would more then likely fix
this problem.

I thought there was another more general bug called "anchors don't work" filed
by Ali, but I can't find it.

Duane-- I just happen to be working on this today.

------- Additional Comments From mikef@praxis.etla.net 2001-02-15 16:10:54 ----

(there's more than one problem, and more than one symptom. Some of the problems
are described in 2057, others are described in the bug I can't find, so I'm keep
thing this one open)

Is this really a 1.0 blocker?

mfleming:
I think #2787 ("Anchors don't work") may be the one you were looking for. #2077
also is related.

------- Additional Comments From duane@eazel.com 2001-02-16 09:02:00 ----

Don, this bug makes almost all of the pages in the Help sidebar pane buggy as
well as ANY web page out there with anchors in them. It might not crash the
system, but it is makes us look sloppy and it is a very visible problem. (It is
not like this will only be seen by one in 20,000 users).

Hmmmm, on second thought, I _do_ think this is a duplicate of bug #42057. Am I
wrong to close it as such?

Verifying that this is a duplicate.

This is actually a duplicate of 46756.
