Description eli 2001-09-10 01:00:37 UTC
If you play an audio file from Nautilus, your Nautilus window will be frozen
until the playback completes or is terminated.

This occurs using all playback engines checked (XMMS and mpg123).

* REPRODUCIBLE: Always

* STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

1. Point Nautilus to a directory containing at least one MP3 file.

2. Right-click on the file, and from the "Open With menu", select "XMMS" or
"mpg123". (Alternatively, just double-click on the MP3, if you have an MP3
player configured to play files by default.)

* ACTUAL RESULTS:

 The MP3 file will play. However, your Nautilus window will cease to respond to
any user interface events, nor will it redraw when covered up or dragged
off-screen.

The Nautilus window will return to normal when the audio playback utility is
closed.

(FWIW, opening an image file in GIMP doesn't freeze Nautilus while GIMP is
open.)

I am unable to reproduce.

------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2001-02-15 18:54:31 ----

I will try this first thing tomorrow morning at Eazel.

------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2001-02-16 11:01:13 ----

I can't reproduce this on two systems at Eazel. I'm not sure why this is
happening at home. Will check further tomorrow.

Gene, this remains reproducible at home. I don't know enough about the audio
architecture to suggest what could be different. If you have a few minutes on
#nautilus this weekend, I'd appreciate your $.02 on areas worth checking.

------- Additional Comments From don@eazel.com 2001-02-20 12:19:46 ----

Eli, maybe this has to do with how the MIME handler is configured on your home
system.  Just a guess ...

Do you think this is a 1.0 blocker? I only ask because I can't reproduce it
either on my work or home system.

------- Additional Comments From don@eazel.com 2001-02-20 21:04:24 ----

Andy, can you reproduce this?

------- Additional Comments From eli@eazel.com 2001-02-21 10:49:44 ----

If it can't be reproduced anywhere else (I can't), please feel free to mark it
as a 1.2 bug

Changing to "old" target milestone for all bugs laying around with no milestone set.
Comment 2 John Fleck 2002-04-03 14:17:36 UTC
I'm going to close, since it seemed to be an isolated problem at the
time and we've not gotten reports on this since.
