Description Bradley Whittington 2007-08-06 16:49:34 UTC
There are many times when one wants a window to maximise vertically, or horizontally, and the need for an efficient "directional maximisation" is increasingly needed with widescreen displays.

The functionality is straightforward:
When a user double clicks on a window edge while the handle is visible the window should maximise in that direction. So, if one double clicks when the handle on the bottom edge of a window is visible, then the window should stretch down to the bottom extent of the screen.

I like this idea, but how would we make it discoverable? Are there any other window managers that do this?
