GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 463720
Small banner missing in the home
Last modified: 2008-12-09 23:52:36 UTC
There is a small banner planned in the column of the homepage. We need at least one. This is not a blocker. If we don't have banner by the release day we will simply take out that "Empty banner" text.
I don't understand what this will be.
The small "Boston Summit" banner you can see in this mockup: http://people.redhat.com/duffy/gnome-brand/wgo/wgo_mock-9nov.png We had planned a second space for a promo targeted to the GNOME community. The big splash banner needs to be targeted to the outside primarily. As said, we can live without this banner. It seemed a "major" issue when I took it out but since then nobody seems to miss it desperately. Changing severity to 'enhancement'.
A banner like the Boston Summit banner or a text banner can be added by a site admin with a "Static Text Portlet". There is nothing that needs to be changed or programmed by us. In the current setup-code, one static text portlet is added for the summit. To play around with it: - use an up to date sandbox - login as a site administrator - go to the Homepage - click "Manage Portlets" in the right column - click on "BANNER" or ""GET INVOLVED" to edit these two banners or add a "Static Text Portlet"
