Description Dave Lounsberry 2001-09-10 00:59:02 UTC
The desktop icon labels are not wrapping soon enough so parts of the text ends
off the screen.

* REPRODUCIBLE: Always

* STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

Rename one of your desktop icons and make the name at least 20 characters long.
The name can be split up into multiple words, doesn't matter. Notice that while
you are typing the new name in, it correctly splits each line so that the text
does not go off the screen. It's still too close for my confort.

Press enter and the text is reformated in a way that part of the text, sometimes
2-3 characters, are off the left edge of the screen.

I did make sure that my horizontal size was not causing the problem.

* EXPECTED RESULTS:

  I would expect it to keep all text visible. Maybe there should be a pad or
margin used for the placement of the icons.????

Changing to "old" target milestone for all bugs laying around with no milestone set.
Comment 2 John Fleck 2002-02-21 16:40:52 UTC
I can't reproduce this. Looks fine to me. Closing.
Comment 3 Miles Lane 2002-06-06 16:04:06 UTC
I can reproduce it.

Config:

1600x1200 resolution (shouldn't matter?)

Case #1 Steps:

Open Nautilus preferences.
Set View Defaults -> Icon View Defaults -> Defaults Zoom Level
to 50%
Open the desktop context menu and select "Clean up by name"

Result:

On my desktop, the following folder names are truncated on
the left side: "miles's Home", Documents, Multimedia and Pictures.

Case #2 Steps:

Set desktop font to "Utopia 12" AA font.
Create a folder named "alt2_ms_to_villanueva.html" on the desktop.
Open the desktop context menu and select "Clean up by name"

Result:

"alt2_" is off screen.

Dave: how possible is it to fix this? I'm not seeing it, but you know
the code best, so maybe there is a case I'm not catching...
Comment 5 Dave Bordoley [Not Reading Bug Mail] 2002-08-27 20:50:33 UTC
Havoc has a hack to fix this. I guess it should be fixed in pango to
work correctly though. MArking this as a dupe of the bug with the
hack.
